MakoLab gains funding from The National Centre for Research and Development for the Blockchain technology development

This week brought us great news from The National Centre for Research and Development. „Realization of industrial research and execution of development projects in the area of modern digital identifiers requiring absolute non-repudiation, authenticity, uniqueness, transparency and persistence with the use of modified Blockchain technology” project, which had been submited under the Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014-2020, has qualified for funding. The total value of the project is PLN 2,042,605.07 and the value of the requested subsidy is PLN 1,234,660.17.

MakoLab's project has earned a very high place in The NCBR ranking, earning 17 points. Mirek Sopek, PhD, Vice President and CTO of MakoLab, as a leader of R&D team will be responsible for the project's implementation.

The works we are going to accomplish within the project are to improve the quality of the Blockchain technology. They will enable the usage of the advanced data structures and complete it with the best of semantic technologies. Thanks to the results of our works, Blockchain technology will gain new important applications, including digital identification, within sectors such as banking and finance

The National Centre for Research and Development is the implementing agency of the Minister of Science and Higher Education. Since inception it is in charge of the performance tasks within the area of national science, science and technology and innovation policies. Assigned by the Ministry the function of the Mediation Institution in three operational programmes: Human Capital, Innovative Economy and Infrastructure and Environment, the Centre became one of the greatest innovation centres in Poland. The activity of the Centre is funded by the national treasury and the European Union.

Working in collaboration with the Catholic University of Lublin John Paul II (KUL), this inaugural event with the university marked an instrumental step forwards for the development of Makolab’s R&D department.
